Het is alweer vier maanden geleden dat mijn track ‘Suitcase‘ op ccMixter verkozen werd tot ‘Editorial Pick’. Dat klinkt als een persoonlijk succes maar gaat veel verder dan dat. Door deze track realiseerde ik me dat het werkelijk mogelijk is om met onbekenden van elders op deze wereld iets moois te creeeren. Online.
De track bestaat namelijk uit een gedicht van de Amerikaanse (wereldburger) Emily Jane Carmen, voorgedragen door multimediaal artiest Anchor Méjans, aangevuld met een percussie-loop van ene ‘audiotechnica’ en een woordloze zangpartij van iemand die zich ‘innabar’ noemt. Ik smeedde de delen tot een geheel en voegde wat strijkers uit een doosje toe.
Resultaat: een Editor’s Pick die voelt als een eerste prijs, toffe comments vauit de ccMixter-community en vooral een mooie nieuwe ervaring. En als klap op de vuurpijl maakte Anchor Méjans er nog een mooie video bij.
